We are actively recruiting a Quality Assurance Engineer to become an integral part of our team in Girard, Ohio. This position will assist the Head of Quality in the development of a robust quality assurance program. The QA Engineer will drive continuous improvement in internal and external quality, with direct production support and immediate root cause analysis and corrective action to resolve quality issues. The QA Engineer will support the transition from a QC to a proactive QA approach focused on prevention of defects through in-depth root cause analysis and corrective action. The QA Engineer will lead the corrective action process at a plant level. The QA Engineer will also be responsible for the implementation and daily application of the calibration and ESD programs as well as other quality related activities as they relate to production. Success in the role will be measured by multiple factors. These include conducting root cause analysis and leading corrective action programs that reduce the external and internal quality ppm levels. This would be accomplished by being directly involved with the analysis of production issues and the coordination of the corrective action process.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and perform plant level problem solving, root cause analysis and corrective action on production related issues
  • Lead and perform continuous improvement projects affecting plant quality.
  • Performs capability studies, control plan/PFMEA development, and statistical analysis of core production processes.
  • Maintain and administer corrective and preventive action program
  • Develops written documentation and procedures related to quality requirements and/or criteria
  • Prepares quality documentation and reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends including failed processes, stability studies, recalls, corrective actions, and re-validations
  • Coordinate and maintain customer quality processes regarding APQP, PPAP, and other customer quality programs
  • Conduct nonconforming material review
  • Assist in defining production inspection plans.
  • Maintain plant level ESD program
  • Maintain electronic and mechanical calibration program
  • Assist quality engineers as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Technical knowledge:

  • Effective problem-solving skills
  • Working knowledge of IPC standards
  • Working knowledge of Six Sigma Tools
  • Working knowledge of PPAP and APQP
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing methods and quality concepts
  • Working knowledge of Manufacturing Processes/Equipment (preferably in Electronics)
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001

Experience and Essential requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology- preferably in electrical engineering
  • 2 years' Quality / Test Engineering Experience- Ideally electronics manufacturing background
  • Hands on experience conducting root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills (both written and verbal)
  • Must be organized and able to multi-task
  • Knowledge of theory and principles of statistics and statistical process control
  • Strong computer skills including quality control applications, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases
  • Experience with internal quality audits
  • Six Sigma Green Belt helpful
